VLSI, or Very Large Scale Integration, is a technique to integrate multiple kinds of transistor-based circuits into a singular die. The technology was heavily used by Silicon Graphics from the beginning with the IRIS Graphics in its 68000-based multibus terminals and workstations. It continues to be important and has been extensively used in System on a Chip manufacturing.
